Do I need a username and password to search the seminary library’s online catalog?
Answer: NO. Anyone can search the seminary library catalog at any time.
Why do I see “My account” [log in]” when I go to the online catalog?
Answer: This is an option built into the catalog. If you choose to use this log in feature, it allows you to renew books, reserve books, “tag” items with helpful subject headings, create and save your own personal lists, etc. We recommend this. The first time you log in, you must enter your library card barcode – without spaces - and then your last name as the “password” with the first letter of your last name as an initial cap, just as you usually spell it. After that first time, you can change the login to something that you prefer.
How about when I want to search for articles and citations in something like the EBSCO products or the OXFORD resources? Do I need a special logon?
Answer: On campus, you can go directly into these resources. Off campus, students and faculty can use these password-protected resources. Contact the library staff for username and password information.
What about the eBook of the New Catholic Encyclopedia in Gale eBooks, or the Encyclopaedia Britannica? How do I get into those?
Answer: On campus, you can go directly into these resources. Off campus, faculty and students can log in. Contact library staff, and they will give you the necessary password.
